Dr. Kaitlin Laxer Danze is passionate about helping children have the best dental experience possible! She believes that the concept of a pediatric dental home sets the stage for a lifetime of positive dental experiences. Dr. Kaitlin is a Charlotte-native and graduated from Providence Day School. She attended the University of South Carolina for her undergraduate studies, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts. She then attended her dream dental school, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a Degree of Dental Surgery (DDS).
She always knew that she wanted to be a pediatric dentist, and was able to tap into some of her passions surrounding pediatrics while in dental school at UNC. She took an elective pediatric dental trauma course and also co-created a curriculum on prenatal oral health, which she taught to UNC medical students.
After earning her DDS degree at UNC, Dr. Kaitlin went on to earn her Master of Science and Certificate of Pediatric Dentistry degrees at a top pediatric dentistry program: The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident of Resident Development. This level-one trauma hospital offered numerous opportunities for Dr. Kaitlin where she learned extensively about all aspects of pediatric dentistry. Some of her favorite topics include: managing and treating dental trauma, treating patients with special healthcare needs, infant and prenatal oral health, and alternative treatment techniques such as silver diamine fluoride and the SMART technique. Dr. Kaitlin also co-created a curriculum during residency on prenatal and oral health, which she taught to patients at NCH. Dr. Kaitlin recently published her research, Knowledge and Perceptions of Dental Care During Pregnancy: a Cross-Sectional Survey of Adolescents and Young Adults in the Journal of Dentistry for Children.
Dr. Kaitlin is a certified diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the highest regarded professional organization in the field of pediatric dentistry.
During Dr. Kaitlin’s free time, she loves spending time with her husband, Dr. Adam, and their beautiful King Charles Cavalier fur baby, Ruby. She loves to cook, go on walks, try new cuisine, discover new music and places, and spend time with her family.
